    Hi,

I just finished up my freshman year at a 4 year university on a 4-year Army ROTC Scholarship and am in very good standing within the program.

I'm considering applying to USMA for the Class of 2017, and am trying to get some information on the process.

-Is the application process any different for someone who is in ROTC or who has already completed a year of college?

-I've heard people mention that there are "special nominations" for ROTC students, rather than trying to attain a senator's or congressman's nomination. Have any of you heard anything about this?

Any other info any of you may have about this would be greatly appreciated!!

no significant difference in the application itself, have to adjust for the fact you are attending a college - i.e. instead of high school teacher evaluation, college professor.

Your professor of military science can nominated you. There are twenty appointments for ROTC nominees. It's very tough, as it is at large, to include JROTC programs. With your Congressional nomination, you are competing against 10 other kids from your Congressional district. Whereas with the ROTC, nationwide and more focused applicant pool.

Even with a ROTC nomination, you should pursue your congressman and senator for nominations as well. Multiple nominations can improve your chances for an appointment and the pool(s) of candidates you compete against is different and smaller.

So I can obtain nominations from my senators/congressman in addition to the ROTC nomination?
