About a year ago I was DQ'd from USMA for having a tree nut allergy (just to pistachios and cashews). I have only had one allergic reation ever and it was when I was 6. I have never had an epi pen, but for my remedial, my allergist wrote that he recommended that I have an epi pen just because he recommendeds them to all his patients.

After my remedial, DODMERB DQ'd me (I think the epi pen statement killed it) but left off, that if I got desensitization then they might think about a new wavier, only problem as or right now, there is no tree nut desensitization. (new studies state that a treatment might be avalible within 5 years.)

Tree nuts don't even affect my life at all. The only foods I have to worry about are the whole nuts themselves. Its never been a problem until DODMERB.

A year later, I am about to start my freshman year as an AROTC cadet. I'm going to do my best to get contracted, but know this is going to really hurt the process.

I want to know if theres anything that can be done? It is my dream to be an officer in the United States Army and I really want to commission though ROTC.

If there isn't, I guess I'll just wait unitl there's a treatment and attempt to commission though OCS.
