Good day,

I spoke to my BGO/RD/Fleet Coordinator yesterday, 26 MAR 10. He stated that I would receive something in the mail in 7-10 days. I asked if he could tell me exactly what I was going to get and he said he could not. Is there a difference with the Privacy Act when giving news of a TWE or a Blue Envelope? Why couldn't he just tell me?
I asked if it was a TWE or something else he said that everything is in a manila envelope. I am so confused!
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Very respectfully,

Corporal Alejandro Ramos

I've heard of people's BGO's calling and telling them whether or not they were given an appointment. Maybe something has changed or maybe he just didn't know exactly what you where going to get. That is strange.

The Big Blue Folder with the appointment definitely comes in a manila envelope. My fingers are crossed for you! :thumb:

I know my son's Big Blue Folder also came in a manila envelope 7-10 days after we learned of the appointment. Get the camera out...I think its on the way!! Good luck to you! :shake:

I'm a FFR not a BGO, but we are not suppose to tell a candidate if they get an appointment. We are to let the MOC tell them and if they choose not to, then the BFE is on its way anyway and the candidate will learn about it that way. If you have only a Pres. nom, your notification will be the BFE. I had this happen to me a few weeks ago. I had a candidate waiting on a West Point appt and one day I saw on our FFR site that the Appt was offered but I couldn't say anything! He had a Pres. nom only so I knew there would be no MOC call. So for over a week , I knew and he didn't. Just about killed me since he and his family are personal friends.
I can't imagine a BGO calling a candidate to tell them that something is coming in the mail if it isn't the BFE. If BGO's are like FFR's and not suppose to tell, then sounds like he was cryptically trying to tell you good news without REALLY telling you!

We are currently living outside of our home state to be near my mom-in-law as she fights Alzheimers. BGO knew we wouldn't be reading the paper and that our mail might be delayed, so, when he read about our son's noms, he cryptically told us to go to the local paper website and type in MOC name... That was the first thing I thought about when I read the 'manilla evelope' comment. Besides, TWE stand for Thin WHITE Envelope...Just saying

Please keep us posted! We're pulling for you!

Funny story, my friend's mom works for the congresswomen that I got my nom from. My friend knew about a week before I did that I was in, but she couldn't tell me. However she kept dropping hints at practice until I finally got my blue folder, at which point she told me she knew all along.

Cabron,
You're already a United States Marine. So, an appointment to the Naval Academy is just a cherry on top! :)

OOORAH!! Corporal!

Semper Fi, Brother.

Best to you, Marine. hoping for the manila for you and our son... and that ain't the island, either. We already did that one.

We as BGOs are not to inform any candidate of either their turn down or acceptance until they have either received a TWE and contact us with questions, or they hear from their MOC/receive the appointment certificate and again, notify us.
Have seen a lot of activity on my BGIS board in the past week; candidates with turn downs are showing up in large numbers (a few, IMHO weren't competitive and many began but never completed the application). Still have a few that I have no real idea what their ultimate status will be. A waiting game for all of us :frown:

I will definitely post as soon as I receive any USNA final decision correspondence.
Thanks for all of the great input everyone!
This website is very helpful with the waiting process.
