    I received the (TWE).

    Dear XXXX XXXXXXXX:

Regrettably, your admission file for a West Point cadetship is closed because of your failure to submit required information.

We hope you continue to pursue your goal of service in the Army, and investigate ROTC options. You should also consider the benefits available through Regular Army or Reserve Component enlistment.

Thank you for your interest in West Point, and good luck in all your future

I never finished my admission file because I was honestly not interested in going to West Point in the first place. I have no idea why I opened a file. I will only accept an appointment towards USNA. I hope this will help anyone in this USMA forum.

When my son realized he wasn't interested in Navy or AFA, he just sent them an email to let them know he wouldn't be completing his file. Many, many people open files and never complete them for one reason or another...so what you got is not really a TWE...you got a "file closed" letter. Unfortunately, many here can show what a real TWE looks like (as could my son, as he received one for c/o 2018 before his c/o 2019 acceptance).

What did your son do in the time between TWE and his acceptance? I'm beginning to worry that I may be receiving a TWE shortly...

Some who receive a TWE are considered for an AROTC scholarship, even though they might not have applied for one. That was my son's case. He was given a 3 year. So, he enrolled at plan B in ROTC, planning to pay for a year and take the scholarship after the first year (if reapplication didn't go well). He contacted his RC and spoke w/ him about best strategy to be positioned better for the next try...and he did EVERYTHING HE SAID. And...he did it early. His file was complete by October, except for his first semester grades. He made As (maybe one B?) in a rigorous schedule, taking what his RC suggested he take. He used the summer to get his MoC apps done. He got to know the ROTC commander at his school so he could also ask him for a nom. His appointment arrived early February. When you consider that most people take 4.5-5 years to finish college, reapplying is really not a major detour. If West Point is something someone really wants, isn't it worth a second try?

I agree with mom3boys....that's not a TWE, it's West Point telling you that they gave you every chance to complete your file and they are closing it now since you didn't.
