My DS and I recently flew to San Diego where he applied for his TWIC. He told the agent at the TWIC center that he wanted to pick up his card in New York the day before Indoc. The agent had it sent to Lindenhurst on Long Island instead of the TWIC center in Manhattan. We were originally planning on taking the train into Manhattan to pick it up. Does anyone know if Lindenhurst is easier to get to by car than going by train into the city? We are staying in Garden City the night before and will have a rental car. Any help would be appreciated. If we need to change the pick up location we still have some time.

I just did a mapquest and it says it's 34 minutes from garden city (about 20 miles)...which I would think would be easier than going into the city since you have a rental car.

With a Rental Car- much easier than going into the city. Just get on Stewart Ave in Garden City to Meadowbrook Pkwy (S) to Sunrise Hwy east will take you to Lindenhurst- maybe 1/2 hour drive. Then if it's warm go to the best beach in America- Jones Beach. I can say this- I've lived in Hawaii, Florida, California among other places - and the best pure beach in the country is sitting in Nassau County LI! Unfortunately it's also in easy reach of the 8 million citizens of NYC, and the 2 million plus residents each of Nassau and Suffolk Counties, so you probably won't be secluded while you are there:biggrin:

Thanks very much! This is exactly what I needed to know and the beach sounds fabulous!
