Last week I received word from one Senator that I was nominated by him to go to USMA and then last night I received word from my other Senator that he is also nominating me to go to West Point so what happens now? Does this help my case? If so, how much? Any info regarding this would be helpful. Hopefully I will hear from Admissions this week as I did get an LOQ/ possibly an LOA (we aren't positive what it is). Thanks!

If you receive an LOA, and are 3 Q you will earn an appointment from one of the MOCs because the last barrier was the nom.

If you are 3 Q and no LOA, but the nom was principal, you will earn an appointment.

If you are 3 Q, no LOA, no principal, you will compete with the other 10 on each slate. Highest WCS earns the apptmt.

So, as you can see, it all varies on what is next until you know if you have an LOA, or how the slate was submitted.

MOC's will inform you of how they submit. They may say congrats we submitted you as our principal, or they may say we submitted you using the competitive method. Or they may say we use the principal, and competitive, but you were not our principal. That is where if the principal doesn't accept the apptmt., they than allow the SA to use the WCS to determine who will be charged, leaving you still in the hunt.

Amazing how key words can change which path you will be on next.

Good luck.

An LOA will have the words "letter of assurance" and "we are holding a spot for you..." on it. Otherwise, it is not an LOA.

I am assuming what they mean by LOQ, they are going to say you are 3 Q. In essence you are qualified.

As Mom, stated this is great, but it is not an LOA. 3Q is not the golden ticket. LOA is the golden ticket for you right now, because you have 2 noms in hand.

Big difference.

Thanks for all of your help. So do my chances look good based on this information? When do you think I will get word of an appointment?

Honestly, we do not know if you have an LOA. Working on the assumption that you do not have one, you are in the pool for everyone with a nom that is 3 Q. That means the appointment is determined by the WCS!

If so the answer is MARCH!

The SA is rolling, but not like the traditional college. No LOA, the MOC slate can't be charged the apptmt until every candidate submits their packet and received a WCS. The candidate is not required to submit their packet until end of FEB.

A candidate on the slate can be appointed, but not charged to the MOC.

If you have no LOA and relying on that MOC nom only, you will have to wait until all 10 candidates on the slate met the board for their WCS. SA closes their files at the end of Feb. That may mean MARCH for you.

MASS MAILING MARCH is not a cliche.

Enjoy life.
