I've recently found the forum for USAFA and it has been very helpful. I am, as my name implies, among the many hopefuls waiting for word from the Academy. I've been reading through some threads and a few questions came up. I'd appreciate anyone's help in answering my questions.

1. I've come across the term 3Q and am not sure what it means or how people are notified of it. Can someone explain?

2. I have received a nomination but many people are talking about being a principal nominee. How do you know if you are a principal nominee? Are you notified or did you ask if you were one?

Thanks to anyone who is willing to help clarify this!

For the first part, 3Q means triple qualified, physically (CFA), academically, and medically (DoDMERB)

And I pretty sure you will be notified if you are the principal nominee, but not all congressmen use that type of nomination slate, some submit ten names to the academy and let them choose who is the principal. You can call you congressman to find out which (s)he uses and if it is principal, ask if you are it.

Good luck to you!
