For those of you who haven't seen this video, it's PRICELESS (very, very funny):

Code Pink suggests we should have a Department of Peace. Sounds like a magical place, man!

For those of you wondering whether there are careers you can do after service, check out Captain Riggle, USMC!

    Disclaimer: Didn't watch the clip

Wouldn't the Dept of Defense be the same thing as the Dept of Peace? I'm just saying....

You NAILED it!! That's precisely the whole point of this video. You've gotta watch it when you have a moment. It's amazing that you'd pick this up without even watching the video!! I'm impressed.

It gets better every time I watch this. My favorite part is the twitching of the eyelid during the interview.

I've watched this a hundred times and missed that! Gonna watch it again.

During the MOC interview for my DS's application to USMA, my DS had the brass ones to advise the panel that he was also applying to UC Berkeley. That definitely drew some laughs, but US Berkeley has a good NROTC program, believe it or not. When I visited that campus with my DS, I didn't feel at all uncomfortable. My DS then tried to find the USMC recruiting station mentioned in this video but didn't go in.

As a plebe at USNA, I didn't watch the video, but last semester I wrote my first USNA paper on the legislation behind the department of peace, and why it shouldn't be passed. My favorite part was that it would create a Peace Academy modeled after the other Service Academies. My government teacher, a Major in the USMC, gave me an A.

Rob Riggle is a pretty funny comedian and currently a Major in the USMC Reserves. Watching him interview Code Pink is pretty funny. If anyone is having a problem with link in the OP, I can post another one.

Code Pink has every right under the 1st Amendment to say what they want.

Now, like the video mentioned, if only there was some organization that existed to ensure those rights were protected... :shake:

One of the comments sums up my views on the matter :shake:

"I think it's time that Code Pink, as an organized group form a peace committee and travel to Iraq and Afghanistan with their message and how to solve the problem of war, instead of their 'hug ins' and just mouthing off about the freedom of speech...which of course they wouldn't have if the U.S. wasn't who and what it is, and the military out there protecting those freedoms."

Having a "Department of Peace" isn't limited to organizations like Code Pink, Amnesty International, and the kooks who inhabit Berkeley. Since 2001, and in every Congressional session since, Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-Area 51) has introduced a Bill in the House that would establish a Department of Peace.
