When filling out the uniform size section they want you to measure the chest and its the only thing they ask you besides shoe size when you fill this out on the candidate portal can I wait to fill it out? I am hoping to gain another inch or two.

An inch won't be that big of a difference, but by all means wait until April to submit if that's what you want to do.

They dont actually make the sizes that you put on your gray cards the size you have to get when uniforms are issued. The gray cards just lets West Point know how much of each thing to order.

Oh weren't the uniforms made at West Point once upon a time? If that is true do they still do that?

they measure you during Beast for the uniforms that have to be tailored. The other stuff you just try on and if it doesnt fit you get a different size. From what I've heard, you are supposed to be vocal about if something doesn't fit because the whole process is a mass production of new cadets.

Yes, the Dress Gray's are still made at West Point. During Beast you will be measured thoroughly so they will make a uniform to your specifications. You will have an opportunity to go down to the uniform shop and on Plebe Parent weekend, parent's will be afforded the opportunity for a tour.

I would not advise anyone to send their measurments in so soon. Young growing bodies do change. You can safely wait until April/May.
These measurements will be used to determine your size for Army issued uniforms - ACU's etc and your White over Gray's that you will be issued on the first day.

Also as an aside while on the subject of sizing, the importance of picking well fitting boots when we get boot vouchers cannot be overemphasized. Your feet shouldn't flop around at all inside, otherwise you're just asking for blisters. Rucking is not a difficult event... unless you allow yourself to get dehydrated or have open blisters. Keep trying pairs until you get one just right.

Definitely be vocal about uniforms. A set of ACUs (top & bottom) is close to $80, and once you walk away from the issue area you can't trade them in anymore.

I'm happy I already have and I.D. so I don't need to go through the troubles of getting a boot letter to get onto post doesn't sound like fun.
