When I see all that you can do over the summers or during the school year it really blows my mind that there is so much offered at a relatively small school. Is there any unique opportunities I should take advantage of or any clubs that would be fun an rewarding for me to try out for. I was looking at the parachute club, scuba club, weapons team, etc. something that would be fun and have a value in the army outside of WP. Any suggestions?

During beast, you’ll have the opportunity to explore all the club teams, sports and other activities. The parachute team is a very small group that chooses a handful of Plebes every year. If you are lucky enough to be selected, you’ll have opportunities to jump during your Firstie year.

The big thing is time management being able to do activities and maintain your grades. Some will choose a less demanding activity to allow more study time, still others will find something fun and settle more average class ranking.

However, universally, you want to find something that will give you the most “athos” and get away.

    You’ll figure it out.

Club night is very near the beginning of AY (academic year). The goal is to find clubs/activities that 1) get you out of parades, and 2) get you off post. You want to have "authos": authorization to miss stuff that you don't want to do or authorization to leave post.

If you want more understanding about this subject check the chapter in "The Moms Guide to Surviving West Point" Its a must read for the whole family.

BTW: I am not her husband, or dear friend. I did meet her once to have my book signed. Haha
