United States Air Force Academy (Admissions)

So there will be atleast one candidate from every moc list that will receive an appointment right? So if I wasthe highest qualified for USAFA in my district would I automatically revieve an appointment? Then threat go to the national pool for competitive selection? Thanks

Does anyone know how rejections may come? I know they come in small envelopes but will the congressman call or will it show up on the portal as "rejected" or something along those lines? Thanks

Years ago (2011), rejections came in a thin white envelope (TWE) and Appointments came in a big, fat envelope (BFE). Now initial acceptance or deferment notification occurs through your portal or email. Many have expended hours of time and millions of joules of energy trying to figure out the when and how of notifications. Just watch this site and you'll see when notifications are being sent out. Remember that getting into USAFA is easier than spending 4 years of your life at USAFA. Best wishes. :thumb:

I saw someone post on the Facebook status "Are all the selections sent out on the same day?" -- and I doubt this is the case, but I do really wonder how constant their output is.

Like, if we aren't notified today, does USAFA's review board meet each Tuesday? What other times....?

Look over appointment threads from previous years. You'll see appointments go out from November to April. Things may have changed, but looking at the 2018 thread, probably not.

Does anyone have any idea when the regular admission appointments will actually start rolling out?

Its called Mass Mail March....should be rolling out any day now....

My appointment letter came in a small 8.5x11in envelope, if I remember right. All it had was a letter explaining their admissions decision, so it wasn't a fat envelope. Again, that's if I remember right.

Did you get a letter of assurance then that letter or was that just the standard appointment letter?

Got deferred from EA. Assumed I was going to hear back from them in like April but I guess not! And I don't think I got a LOA

Deferred EA here also. I wasn't nominated by then. Then I received a principal nomination and got the letter around the end of January or early February.

AFA rejection letter

"We regret to inform you that you have been disqualified from consideration"
Email, no letter. Is this an indication that DS is permanently DQ'd or just for this application?

It depends what you were DQ'd for. If it was the CFA (which I heard about a few recently), then probably have no chance this year. If it was academics, then you could potentially get the prep school or falcon scholarship. You should check your portal because there may be a longer letter there with a better explanation. So sorry for the news. If you know the reason, maybe there is something to improve for next time around or else it is off to plan B.

Thank you for the response. The news wasn't a total surprise. Although he achieved his nomination he knew his grades/sats need a boost. The letter indicated others more qualified so they wouldn't pursue medical waiver at this time. Also indicated his file is now closed and the question was if it was final. The portal status indicates disqualified. Although we hoped he might be considered for scholarship he found out the 60 available only go to fully qualified. What are the different status indicators for rejection, acceptance, prep school, is there a list somewhere?
