Update application to reflect congressional nomination to an academy?

DS is applying to the service academies in addition to seeking an ROTC scholarship. He received a letter from his senator on Friday informing him that he has been nominated to attend USMA, USAFA and USMMA. Should he update his ROTC application to reflect that development? We recognize that the odds of an appointment to either of the academies are still rather low, so the ROTC scholarship is still quite important to him/us. I assume that it would be useful to update the ROTC application, as the nomination is recognition of his potential as an officer. On the other hand, we wonder whether it a board might assume that the scholarship should go to someone who might not have received a nomination. Any thoughts?
 
My DS did not update his AROTC application with that info and still received both. They are independent applications and I don't believe a nom from a SA will make a difference in the scholarship application. Just my opinion...
 
I recieved a congressional nom to usna and put it on my arotc app. I got the arotc scholarship
