Updated transcripts if appointed?

If my DD is already appointed, should she send in her term 1 and 2 high school a transcripts that were recently released, or does it not matter? Thanks

Definitely. Even if she is already appointed, USNA still requires her recent transcripts - they hold the right to revoke the appointment if any red flags come up. But as long as your DD doesn't break her leg or get a low C in calculus, she will be fine. It is like this for all universities. All transcripts must be sent off before attendance, USNA is no exception. Someone recently asked this on the USMA forum, and another user put his answer beautifully.

His answer is classic, I'm still laughing.

"Kid, if you're going to work for the military/government, you better learn early that ALL boxes must be checked. Boxes being checked is more important than right and wrong. ALL boxes must be checked. If a box isn't checked, the box checkers get all confused and they shut the system down. Even a General can't override the box checker mafia. Check the boxes. Don't ask questions. Just check the boxes. It may not make always make sense, but check ALL the boxes. Asking questions only delays the inevitable. If there is a box to be checked, you will eventually have to check it."

The only thing actually required of appointed candidates is the final transcript released at the end of the year, if you'd like to send the 1st semester you can but they won't care. No red flags are going to come up if she doesn't send them in now, and they will not revoke her appointment because she hasn't sent them in.

Also, a "low C" in calc is unlikely to cause a problem. USNA wants your transcripts to (1) prove you finished all your courses and graduated from h.s., and (2) that you didn't "tank" your final semester.

Tanking would be, for example, an A/B student who gets all Cs/Ds or worse in the final semester (without a reasonable explanation). The mere fact your grade dropped in one class is very unlikely to cause an issue for someone already appointed unless the person failed the class (absent a good explanation).

Appointees should push hard through the end of h.s., b/c at USNA, in the military, in life, you don't want to quit the moment you taste success. But please don't panic because your B+ dropped to a C+ in one class. It happens.
