Any examples of things to update to file before 2/28? (DS is 3q and 2 noms )Spring captains won't be announced as of then and not sure if participation in EC activities (art show/ retreat/ additional volunteer work) apply since not award winning scenarios. Current activities are the same as already noted. Any thoughts Are appreciated. My goal is to give this forum up for Lent so time is ticking. Lol . Thank you.

If your DS in anticipating that they will be a captain/receive a Varsity Letter, DS (I assume you are a mother from your username!!) should go talk to their coach and directly ask if they will be a captain this Spring Season. Any reasonable coach will understand why your DS is making this request if DS explains why they have an urgency to know. Please wish DS the best of luck, and good luck to you in this Lenten Season!! Let me know when DS hears back :)

Are you implying one should contact the admissions officer with anticipated honors?
My Colonel has guaranteed me a varsity letter sometime in March, which is after the file deadline; should I get that added to my application? It may make or break my application seeing as how I have zero varsity letters right now.

Yes. If, as you said, your Colonel (JROTC?) is ensuring that you will receive a Varsity Letter, it will be in your best interest to let admissions know. If you have any questions on how to update your profile, don't be afraid to ask. I will caution though, if JROTC, make sure you do not put Orienteering, Colorguard, etc... as a varsity sport. This will not be classified correctly, and you may not receive the extra points. Best of luck to you, let me know when you find out your status!

Yes you should notify your RC, by email, advising that you will likely receive a varsity letter.

Spring sports, for example, wont commence until after deadline. Thus, get your coach to do a letter if the coach is certain you will be on varsity. Then attach that letter to an email to RC advising of that status, and the RC will likely give you credit towards your whole candidate score. That is important. My son was credited for being named captain of the baseball team that way, as baseball does not start in Michigan until April, but coach named him captain last summer. He is a three year varsity player.

Raiders, you know, that competitive workout team. That one counts, yeah?

I realize I might be considered in the wrong from some users for what I'm about to say...but I really wouldn't consider JROTC Raiders a "Varsity Sport." I have been on Raiders myself, and it is very different from other varsity sports. I believe the main reason that it shouldn't be counted as a Varsity Sport is because Raider Team is only open to those in JROTC, not the entire school population. (A varsity team represents the entire school, Raider Team only represents the JROTC Battalion) Please don't think I'm "dissing" the Raider Team or JROTC, I simply believe that there is a difference and that Raider Team should not be considered a Varsity Athletic.

I'm asking because it is my understanding that JROTC teams are not considered sports and won't give you any WCS points in the athletic participation evaluation of your file.

They aren't and they won't. I have friends who intentionally quit raiders to play a varsity sport so they could get those points.

Should applicants that have already been appointed (and accepted their appointments) continue to update their applications? Or does it not really matter?

Doesn't matter. The whole point of updating is to get an appointment. If you already have one then updating is pointless.
