Check-in was yesterday morning. The parent briefings were attended by about 150 parents that I saw before I left. I spoke with the director of student services and she working to get the slides posted for those who couldn't attend.

The Dinner at Olive Garden the night before was attended by about 25 students and 4 sets of parents.

I may try and set up a gathering parents w/e as well as I'd love to meet others in the same boat I'm in. If you are a USAFA prep parent and interested in meeting/attending or even just communicating send me a pm.

The students will be given access to a phone and will be calling home 4pm mountain time on July 26th.

Phone Calls

The "Inprocessing Mission Brief" link states that the preppies will be allowed to make phone calls on 26 July at 4:30 PM (Mountain). Does anyone know if more than one phone call is allowed?

For me, I entered the Prep School July of 2007. We only got one phone call as basic was only about 3 weeks.

How long do you think they get to speak? I was wondering if I should have my son's girlfriend come over and listen on the extenstion. If he gets to call once a week...maybe I should wait a week. Any suggestions?

I remember we had like 5 minutes to talk to our family. So, it really isn't worth it. After basic is great because depending on the squadron, whether they get in trouble or not, they get their phones on the weekends for the first few months.
