Hello everyone,

I'm about halfway through finishing my USAFA application but I want to know how to improve my chances still. I considered picking up a book on Amazon called, The Air Force Academy Candidate Book: How to Get In, How to Prepare, How to Survive". There are also books about the interview process, essays, etc.

I was wondering if these books are worth the read and the money. I thought the point of forums like these was to help candidates get in and provide advice/tips so maybe this is enough.

I appreciate any feedback.

If there is one book that seems to have received the most consistently positive reviews in this forum, it would be the series you speak of by Sue Ross (She also has similar editions for USMA and USNA).

It breaks down the fundamentals of the application process into meaningful bite size chunks and explains the associated commitment it requires of a candidate.

Col. Ross remains active at USAFA to this day:

I would say it is worth the ten bucks.

We bought that book at the USAFA visitor center and it was a great reference not only for my daughter but for us to understand the whole process and what to expect when she got her appointment.

Thanks to you and everyone else. I bought the book yesterday and have read through it a little. So far it's very helpful!
