Gus, that's great news. Congratulations. When I read that you received notification on a Friday that you were a Falcon Foundation scholarship acceptant but that when you sent your paperwork in on the following Monday that their were no more slots, I felt really bad for you. (I faxed my DS's paperwork in on the same morning but obviously just a bit earlier.) I'm so glad that this worked for you. God willing, we will see at I-Day next June.

USAFA Admissions posted to FB that they already have over 7000 applications for next year. Good luck to you all.
 
Hey, did your portals change to "candidate" already? I'm still stuck on "applicant", but I've heard some people have moved on :confused:

My DS has not changed to candidate yet. But under applicant it has an attention line that says you have been identified for promotion to candidate and your portal will open by early August at the latest.

My son's application status has not changed yet either. He was at Summer Seminar and just finished his physical this week. Hoping this changes soon. I will be contacting the swim coach early next week with his results from sectionals and can hopefully get the ball rolling. Waiting is truly frustrating as it was so different from when my daughter applied for the class of 2014.

But I did get a letter that said:

"Congratulations! Your application to the Air Force Academy indicates you have the potential for admission. We'll be sending you additional instructions in a few weeks (watch your email and your status page). In the meantime, here are some things to do to make yourself as competitive as possible...."

So I'm assuming that it means that they have a rolling applications opening...

I heard that this year will be a little bit slower in timing for the applications. This will be my third year applying and normally by now everything is open. But you will start to realize that this will be a LONG process, even if you turn everything in early and get it done ASAP, you could still have to wait until March to find out. LOA are not going to be as common this year, so be sure to do everything you can to make your package stronger! You will also realize that once you send something in to USAFA or any of the other academies, that it will take awhile for them to process it. Its a lot of waiting and it will continue to be a long process! But don't stress about it right now, they are just a little bit slower this year!
 
That's what I heard, my dad and I started the process about a year ago and we've been to several academy sponsored events, plus I went to the SS last month. I also heard that they're going to an online application system that's not going to be fully up until next month. I've just been moving ahead with everything else. MOC nomination requests, getting all my medical records together, and working on the CFA. Plus I'm taking the SAT and ACT right up to the deadline to get the best scores I can.

Might as well get in on this... I'm Matt, 17 years old living in Eastern Nebraska, hoping to be at the AFA next year! By the way, is there anybody else from Eastern Nebraska that I have to compete with for a nomination on this forum?
 
There is a change!!! Finally! It now states that after review of your application you will be moved up to candidate status. Check back on this page for your package, note it could take until at the latest early August for the application to open.
