So I was deferred from the USAFA's Early Action because I didn't have any nominations on file (MA doesn't submit the nominations till the last week of January). Well I now have two nominations to the AFA, but I had one question. The letter on my portal said that I would receive my notification of my acceptance or rejection in early April, well since I now have nominations, is there a chance I'll hear back earlier?

    Thanks!!

We are in MA also, and my son was deferred in early action too. It was not our understanding that lack of nominations at that time was the reason for the deferral. (He has 3 now) I believe a majority of MOCs from many states have a similar timeline for announcing nominations, so I doubt that is the basis for early action decisions. Given that, we are expecting to have to wait it out until April, just like the letter said.

So will the vacancy winners hear before April where as the national pool will be hearing in April?

Thanks for the update. I called the admissions office to ask why and they said that they deferred most candidates that didn't have a nomination (unless they were already given LOA's or were athletes. I also confirmed this with my family friend (AF Brigadier General who works admissions) and he agreed that not having a nom would most likely defer you. It's the AF's first early action year so they just need to work the kinks out. Surprisingly nearly all candidates were deferred from EA

Really? I could definitely be wrong, but I read somewhere that nearly half of the appointments were given out for EA.

The deferral letter stated that 50% of appointments would be sent out in early April. That does not mean the other half were given EA. I got mine about two weeks after I was deferred.
