Hey everyone,

I just started to fill out my application for the Air Force Academy's summer seminar. I have filled out a lot of information, but I don't know my PSAT scores or my class rank/overall gpa, I have a general idea of my gpa and class rank. What should I do? Thanks in advance.

Ask your guidance counselor Monday. If u took the psat then they should have a copy of the scores. They definitely know your current gpa and rank.

PSAT

PSAT scores for the Oct. 2013 test were released to schools last week. If they have not sent them to students, the school counselor should still be able to tell you your score.

I was unable to take the PSATs this past October due to a conflicting swim meet. I have my scores from last year, though they're decent I believe that I'm capable of a higher score. I'm taking the SATs in January but I don't think my scores will be out in time for the SS closing. Should I make note of this?

I put in my score from last year and plan on updating it next week when I get this years scores.
You should give them last years scores, and make note of the fact that you will be taking the SAT and that these scores are quite old.
They let you update your application anytime before Jan 31st but since the SAT is on the 26th you probably won't know your scores in time.

Also since your sophomore year scores may not be the best, be sure to make up for it in other parts of the application
(Oh and just a suggestion - for your character building essay you may want to talk about the role swimming plays in your life and how you weren't able to do certain things that you wanted to due to your swimming schedule etc.)

Good Luck!!

On the application it says post your grades for the following classes, but it only has some math, english and science classes. Should I only post the grades for the classes listed or every class I have taken so far in high school?

Follow the instructions is all I have to say on this one.:thumb:

If my congressional district (the number) is going to change after Jan 20th should I just go ahead and change it now on the SS Application?

And another question (that's probably more relevant) I'm not sure if this was on the Academy site or not but I apologize if it was, For USAFA does the SS App count as a the Preliminary Application?

Thanks any insight appreciated :)

I don't know about the congressional district.

Also, last year the SS application did NOT count as the USAFA preliminary app. Everyone who applied still had to apply again. That said, from what I can remember they were nearly identical. Save the information and you'll have a good start. (I'd also recommend having some sort of document with all your stats, ECS, awards, leadership, etc, if you don't already--the format is never the same twice on applications, but at least you won't be forgetting anything!)

Along these lines...what if your current congressman(as you are asked to list who it is) is changing with the new year? Do you not that anywhere? The new Congressman's name is not listed on the application.

Don't over think the questions. Just answer them as asked. If the question is "Who is your Congressional Representative?" then provide the name of your Representative. This would be your current Representative. The new Representative is not listed because they are not your Representative. Directly and truthfully answer the question at hand. This also goes for your candidate application that you will hopefully be filling out next year. :thumb:
