    Hi all,

Our son will be doing a semester at the USAFA this fall from USNA and I wanted to get some info/advice about what will be going on next semseter. ie, parent weekend activities, what we should look for to go to. ( We are lucky since we are in Fort Collins, just about 2 1/2 hours away and would love to be able to attend some of the activities at the Academy). Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Here is a link with some of the scheduled events. We are from FC too and DS will be a c4c class of 2015. Make your reservations for Colorado Springs early! Won't it be nice to have him close even if its only for a semester?

Go on the USAFA athletics site and look at buying tickets to the home football games. You can get inexpensive tickets -- watch the game -- see your cadet -- and go out to dinner afterwards, etc. Cadets are required to stay through the entire game -- but after that as an upperclassman can leave and may even be able to go home with you for the rest of the weekend or spend the weekend with you in COS (if that is an option for your family). We live in Boulder -- are lucky to be able to go down frequently. Send me a pm if you would like our home phone number, etc. to talk more.

It seems like you can only buy season tickets right now, from the site. Is that right? When do individual game day tickets go on sale?

I just saw where individual game day tickets don't go on sale until August 1

    Book your hotel now

Hi JPJades, it sounds like you'll need a room for Thursday and Friday night in Colorado Springs. You'll need to get to the Academy very early on Friday so your son can escort you to his classes, dorm room, etc. He will likely be free to spend the night with you at your hotel on Friday night, so plan accordingly. He'll need to be at the football stadium around 9:30ish on Saturday. Last year it seemed that many cadets were sitting with their parents by halftime. Afterwards, he is free to go until Monday evening at 7:00pm. My guess is you'll spend the time in Fort Collins. It will be a fun weekend!

Most state parent's associations reserve blocks of seats for their members at a very good price. They usually get them much earlier than August. Watch your association's communications for when you can get tickets.

If your son plays an IC (inter-collegiate) sport, get there Thursday, because you will probably get to go to their practice Thursday afternoon.

Yes I am sure. You will visit your cadets squadron probably meet his AOC and AMT, there will be a schedlule. I think we were off the hill around 1600 hrs on that friday when he signed out. He has to wear his blues all the time when he is out on any weekend( you never know where an upper classman will be) I will also suggest that they will enjoy a nice bed. Let them sleep as much as they want and they will want LOL.
