USAFA Wings Of Green Skydiving Video

Thank you so much for sharing! Looks like an absolutely incredible group. Does anyone know how the process of joining the wings of green/blue works? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

You will want to take jump first summer. There is an interview process for wings of green in the beginning of second year. Quite competitive and then the time commitment is extensive, basically equal to an IC sport. My DS loved jumping and does it on weekends on his own. Getting license isn't too difficult, then they can jump anywhere.

How competitive are these programs? I don't have any prior jump experience... Do I have a realistic chance of doing jump next summer then getting into WOG/WOB? What's the difference between WOG and WOB?

You don't need prior experience, because getting jump is based off a modified class rank. The selections for summer airmanship are based off of 40% academic, 20% athletic and 20% military.

Based off numbers, it's pretty hard to get onto WOG. A TON (I've heard hundreds) of people try out every year.

WOG is the 3 degree upgrade year for WOB-they spend all year training with WOB and officially become members of WOB at the end of the year.

Cool, thanks. Are there other jump opportunities besides just WOG and WOB and the 3 week summer program?

Not as official academy programs, but I know a pretty good handful of cadets who jump regularly on the weekends at a local drop zone. If you do AM 490 it's much easier to start the process of getting your private license. The biggest obstacle to jumping on your own is money.
