USCGA 2021 Appointments

Weeks! Ugh!

I hope the rest of us hear soon. Especially since these AEP invites have gone out already. I'm hoping we don't have to wait until Dec 24 and that there will be another round next week. Thoughts???

I'm hoping too, but that seems doubtful. The last round was last week, even if it seems like forever ago.

When my DD went to the Genesis Invitation mid November, my husband went to dinner with a few admission folks and, I don't know how he got it out of them, but they mentioned they went through the first set of EA and then they would take a break. I'm not sure what that means but it sounds like another round of offers will come in December.

I think my DS last year heard around the 18th of December and prior years were also prior to the 24th. I do believe that admissions trys not to drag it out to that final date.
Hopefully Objee will post an EA status soon like they did last year.

i think from what i heard/understood from DS's coach is that there are like 4 rounds of review - first round was early nov ... second was before thanksgiving ... thrid and forth i assume will follow the same pattern between now and Christmas

Does the "your application will be reviewed in the next 2 weeks" mean you will hear in the next two weeks? Or just that they've looked at it? Also is it just an acceptance or denial for EA or do they defer to regular decision as well?

My DS received that "2 week email" on October 13. He received his appointment on November 22. There is no deferral to Regular admission once you decide to apply for early decision. It's either an appointment, rejection, CGAS, or waitlisted.

What my DS found last year in EA is that the decision may be quite a few weeks after the review. If the candidate is an easy pick or rejection then they will hear shortly after the review, the rest are in limbo as admissions try to work out who to keep. Some candidates may get CGAS offer as well. Only decision timing really known with EA is that all decisions will be posted by 12/24.
Some EA will go on the waitlist to be looked at post the review of the regular admissions applicants. Last year they started pulling off waitlist prior to official end of RA - so basically once they have a gap open up (such as an EA appointment declines a CGA team spot for another SA) and nobody in RA can meet it, then it goes to the waitlist. Understand though that waitlist lasts into June. Also some RA may end up on the waitlist as well. Being on the waitlist is an achievement but unfortunately it means being in the decision process for up to an additional 6 months.

What Grevar said. We both attended the Admissions Partner meeting a couple weeks ago. About half or a bit more of the appointments are given to EA applicants, varying a little each year. There are a very, very few that might, I say again, might, go to the wait list. And the wait lists will be shorter in the coming year..
