As many of you may know, these forums are used to help high schoolers gain admission to the service academies. It is not an area in which people need not to be chided upon, but need questions answered. I personally have asked many questions, but have not gotten general answers, but more of criticism that was not constructive. I think these forums need to cater more to the needs of applicants and less to the liking of the advisors and parents.

I like the smiley face at the end of the title to this thread. Nice touch. It takes the sting out. LOL.

Hmmmm.....time to take some ownership on this young man. I direct your attention to your own post on a different thread: Failed my final?, along with the others you've posted on reporting issues, missing deadlines, etc. People here DO want to be supportive and encourage but these types of continued behaviors raises lots of questions (how could it not?) and opens you to constructive criticism to "get your act together"...which, incidentally...you need to do. If that sounds a bit harsh then perhaps you should start talking it to heart instead of trying to defend it.

The thing I have liked about these forums over the last year while my son was seeking appointment to three different accademys, is that most folks give you the straight, not sugar coated, answer. Accurate information is valuable. Soft serving it so as not to hurt feelings is actually counterproductive, as it may lead to someone taking the wrong approach.

Bottom line, if you can't take the answer, don't ask the question.

I agree with TheYellowFellow. People like Sidney C, Brovol, and myself all need to learn to be nicer. We also need to just get over reading all the TWE threads from some exemplary candidates, so we can provide kinder/gentler advice to those that have appointments but seem hell bent on seeing what is the absolute minimum that needs to be done before the SA takes notice and starts their own review of the the TWE threads.

Maybe it's generational, but the rule of thumb was the time an athlete should be worried isn't when the coach is barking at them, it is when the coach no longer barks at them and has turned their attention to others.

As a grad, I can tell you that if you are slacking now, it's very hard to turn it back on for BCT and your freshman academics. And rest assured, the Dean does not suffer fools lightly.

As someone who has been interested in attending a SA for almost three years, and am about to enter my Freshman Year of high school, I understand where Yellowfellow is coming from, but, if you can't take constructive criticism from people who know SA's, admissions, and the military very well, how well are you going to take a career in the military? The people on here are only trying to help you and better you as a person, and prepare you for what lies ahead at USAFA and beyond. So relax, you made it in, and like Brovol said, don't ask about something you can't handle the answer to.
As for him himself, always remember that failure is not an option, or as my band director says; "Do whatever it takes to succeed, and be good at it too."

I got out my goose (or is it a swan or white duck) stuffed animal, with big sad eyes and a locket around his neck that says "Waddle I do without you," and I'm sitting here, slowly, sadly crying.

I was going to let this go, but ... nope. Can't do it.

Welcome to the adult world. No one will coddle you at a civilian job and they certainly won't coddle you at USAFA. Learn to take criticism (constructive and otherwise) now. Let it go & understand that not everyone is nice and not everyone will like you, nor will you like everyone. Once you understand that, it will serve you well in the future.

BUT, yes, these forums are here to answer questions. I have noticed that sometimes people get exasperated at answering the same questions over & over and they can get a little impatient. Remember, the Search feature is your friend.

Edit: I see now why you started this thread. So, I'm not going to repeat what Pima said, but she's dead on right. You need to get your act together. If you don't, I am absolutely positive that there is a cadre or two that will help you.

I think there are two types of answers when you post questions on this forum: (1) Answers you WANT to hear and (2) Answers you NEED to hear.

If you want to serve in the military, I think you really need to learn that you won't get too many (1)'s and you need to learn from the (2)'s.

    You are hilarious!

It seems that almost every other post you have made here is a vague question that concerns some huge outlier situation that you have manged to get yourself into, such as your first post in a thread you started on Feb. 14, 2015 :

"Has anyone ever heard of a school suspension causing the applicant to not be admitted to west point, even if he/she was fully qualified?"

Finally, after continuing to ask the Board for more specifics to your situation without stating why, the lovable SAF scoundrel, scoutpilot simply had had enough of your nonsense and cut right to chase: "For the love of god...did you get suspended? What did you do? And what year are you applying? If you want random strangers on the internet to devote time to thoughtful responses, don't make them play the guessing game with what you're after."

Damn, I could not have said that any better !
    ----
On Sept. 30th you again started a thread and asked a question:

Hi, does anyone know when the ROTC deadline is supposed to take place? I have everything complete except for the interview and the Physical test

    - kinnem, one of the moderators, showed you it was in two days, October 2nd. (you were in an outlier situation of not making a deadline) but you already knew that answer !
    ------------
Here is my personal favorite from April 3rd, 2016 : "Hello, I have been appointed for USAFA Class of 2020, however I did not notice the Criminal Records Review Form under the portal, and it said that the deadline to submit it was March 30th. Will my acceptance be revoked?"

You actually so how MISSED THAT "Criminal Records Review Form" Section on the Portal and thus, you missed the deadline !!?? ...LOL !
    ------------
After a 100 posts on the Forum, many filled with examples of your various and hilarious outlier situations, your frustration of having to dig-out an answer has boiled-over into the second person admonishment (above) because you can't get a straight answer to your latest outlier situation as disclosed on another Thread you started - "If I failed my AP Government final, would I have my acceptance rescinded? I'm not sure if it shows on my transcript or not."

Bubba, quit your sniveling and take your lumps.

In addition to what others have already posted (and NO I did not read everyone of your 100 prior posts, so perhaps some may not apply to you), I have a few thoughts to add.

Regulars on here are more than happy to post advice/opinions/input when the question is something where we can actually do that. Some posters seem to make ZERO effort to find the answer to basic questions on their own (i.e. how do I apply?, how do I get a NOM....etc.), so for many of us it gets annoying when someone in h.s. thinks we are their personal/online help desk.............ummm we are not. If we give advice, did you actually do what we suggested? Some seem to keep starting new threads asking basically the same question, so at times we wonder why they keep asking.

If you ask 'what are my chances?' without reading the HUNDREDS of other posts on that same topic, that too gets really old, really fast. NO ONE on here can do anything but guess at your chances at getting an appointment, but that still doesn't seem to stop new users from constantly asking that question (or some clever variation of it).

All we can generally go on are the couple of sentences typically posted what a thread is started. If something seems 'off', we will try to let the OP know that and also encourage more specific input if that would help us in providing advice.

Everyone who has posted on my thread has further proved my point. Instead of graciously accepting what I had to say, I am yet again criticized by people who go out of their way to argue.

Whoa, I only cried with a stuffed animal I once had. I even revealed the nice message from inside its locket!

This is an interesting thread lol.
One of the reasons I stopped lurking as a guest and made an account was actually because of how constructive a community this forum came off as. Personally, I really like reading the posts from parents - even if they don't apply to me at the moment they may in the future, and there's a lot of valuable info in them. This is really just an opinion based of off my rather short time here so far though, haha. Regardless, I think you get out what you put it; which is pretty much the case in most forums.

The OP asked the users to "please read this thread!!!!:)". Many will read this post and almost guaranteed to have the same reaction as the rest of the people who read/posted so far.

I still don't understand what your whole point is. Yes, us regulars get sick and tired of answering the same questions but we do it day in and day out when no one bothers to use google, the search function or read the admissions sites to each SA. You have posted vague questions on many occasions and it's hard to give an answer in those cases. I will be honest as a SA grad and former officer... You are going to have a big wake up in about 6 weeks. No one is going to coddle you or answer your questions when answers are there and available. You don't want to be the guy behind the pack and holding everyone back. This will even come more true in 4 years when you get ready to wear butter bars. Every appointee can make it through a SA and that holds true for you. Spend the next 6 weeks enjoying life and be prepared to push yourself like you never have.

Haha! And yet, you don't graciously accept THEIR responses. You get what you give, kid. :zip:
