usma 2014 questions for upcoming west pointers

That's a sad way to see things, someone doesn't get in because of themselves not someone else. People are allowed to weigh their options. While I definitely think he should not wait until rday, I don't think he should rush on anyone's account. There are people that think they are 200% and don't stay through Beast . I have even known of someone who left after two years that thought they were whole
heatedly in it.
.

The OP was considering accepting the offer and then AFTER the deadline making his decision. The OP is entitled to take all of the time he needs, up until the deadline of 15 April, after that he hurts someone who otherwise would get that appointment.

Thanks. What I was going to say. Same mistake I often make, forgetting how the discussion started or forgetting a key point but my excuse is that I am old.

MemberLG - you are always a voice of wisdom and reason...this case is (IMHO) no exception.

I have never understood how appointees could not show up, or (barring extenuating circumstances) not follow through on a signed commitment. I can understand the pressure and confusion of making such a big decision before the looming decision day of April 15. But after the decision is made...you have to be "all in".

Now that my DD is in the unenviable position of waiting for someone else to accept or decline before she is offered that position. Her destiny (at this point) is to be determined by someone else's decisions. It would be a shame for someone to accept an appointment before the deadline and then decline after the fact - thus not allowing the next in line to fill the spot.

Misunderstood,
I definitely don't agree with accepting and then changing mind, but there are some cases that people just don't know what they are getting into.
I lived there for 4 years and saw it way to often.
Keep in mind many people have until May 1st.
That was my DS deadline
