Are there any civilians on the USMA admissions staff? In one of my essays for the application I wrote about a concept that I doubt would be received very well by civilians, but it is a concept that I think the vast majority of the people in the military would understand well.

Yes, each region has technicians that are civilians. Roughly a quarter of instructors are civilians, and some of them can serve on the admissions committee (ie, review your essay). Least you forget, the military is subservient to civilian leadership. So if you think that your essay wouldn't be received well by civilians, chances are it might drawl some extra scrutiny by the staff since inevitably it could cause them to have to answer as to why you were let in.

Agreed with the post above. Know though that civilians are a big part of the military and without them, we wouldn't be able to perform at high level. Even though civilians do not take an oath, they still serve their country and should be treated with respect.

Actually federal government civilians do take an oath. Nearly identical to the military's. Some places just have them sign it and others do swearing in ceremonies. Regardless they do take an oath.

In addition to said comment, more importantly, we need civilians to complete our mission

I am wondering why you might consider this to be a good strategy for your essay, Frenzy?
