I got a letter from my congressman Doug Lamalfa for California Dist. 1 telling me that he received word that I am to recive and appointment to the academy!!! He said he was told on the 13th and I got the letter on the 17th.:smile:

In response to a news release re. the Bend, OR candidate who received/accepted his appointment:

"a Dad's" post: Some appointments went out about 2 weeks ago and according to admissions were clear vacancy winners. These were probably principle nominations and their file was qualified.

West Point Admissions post: "Appointments were also sent to candidates who had LOAs and were fully qualified with a nomination. There are another 187 in the mail. There will be another good sized mailing in two weeks. As of today, we have 241 candidates who have accepted their appointments to the Class of 2018."

Can someone describe the LOE more specifically? What does it say? I'm pretty sure I got one of those from one of the academies inviting me for overnight visit. Is that an LOE?
 
If it was from West Point and it invited you to an overnight visit, then it was a LOE (or LOA).
