Tug_Boat,
I have been reading your posts and just want you to know that I am praying for your DS! I hope we both end up proud, happy parents in the next several days!
Best of luck to you! :thumb:

Such an awesome sight!

Seeing all those packets is a visual reminder of what a monumental task Admissions embarks upon each and every year. We should all be grateful for the hard work and dedication of that team to ensure another strong class of West Point cadets will be joining the Long Grey Line :thumb:

Thank you..

Thank you Lcwick! I think I let out too much. Maybe I was boiling over.

I'm not referring to my DS, but my recent weight gain. LOL

Good Luck to you and your family!!

Should answer the perennial questions: "What's a BFE? What does it look like? Will I recognize it? Will it fit in my mailbox?" :thumb:

Agreed - A monumental task and a long road....

14000 ----> 6000 ------> 4000 ------> 3000 -----> 1200 ------> 1
Started....... Completed... Nominated..... Qualified...... Offered ...... C/DS/DD

I have to travel for work Sun-Thur next week. Not being there to see the reaction if my DS gets one of those envelopes will be disappointing. :frown:

I'd be proud regardless of the outcome.....would assume you are.

Once the BFE arrives the fun's just starting:

- bubble wrap phase (anxiety & nagging).....
- R-day (anxiety, then relief, then pride at the parade, then sadness as you drive away)
- the first letters
- the phone call
- Marchback (pride, excitement, and stench of unwashed cadets)
- A-day anticipation, then pride at the acceptance, then family fun with your cadet
- Stress of that first reorgy week (usually very tough for plebes the first couple of days)
- That first long weekend leave (or Thanksgiving)
- The decompression over Christmas
- Grades & rank (anticipation, excitement, pride/concern)

Spring semester is far simpler!

Summer training & leave (yeah!)

Then they enter the cynical yearling phase!

It's a roller coaster!!!

The caption on that photo says about 500 are in this mailing. Add that to another couple of hundred that were already appointed (at most) and this is still only about half of the offers. Many of us will likely be waiting, oh so patiently, a little bit longer.

Goes without saying.....hard road to get to this point for everyone. He is an amazing young man, could not be prouder whatever the outcome is next week. But I will still be happy to be a proud parent looking at him with a BFE in his hands! :shake:

Only if you include USMAPS. Otherwise only a handful
