Hello Everyone,

I received an email on 10 August from my admissions counselor. The message read:

"You have been selected to attend an USNA Admissions Event on Monday, August 20th. During the two-hours, you will receive an abbreviated Admissions Brief, attend a Q&A session with your Admissions Counselor, and then take a tour of USNA, led by a 2012 graduate."

Has anyone else received this invitation? My family will be returning from vacation this day, so I will not be able to attend. I emailed my admissions counselor and asked for any alternate dates. Do you guys think my failure to attend this event will ultimately hurt my chances of admission?

Thanks in advance for the help.

You can maybe ask for a CVW? My daughter attended a CVW and spent 4 days at the Academy with another midshipman. Just a thought:smile:

Thank you both for your responses. To answer your question, yes I live a short distance from the Academy. I reside in the sixth congressional district of Maryland, so I am only about 1.5 hours from Annapolis. I spoke with my admissions counselor, and she said I could visit USNA on my own and schedule an individual meeting with her. Do you think this would be beneficial?

navyrn- I would love to attend a CVW! I am a previous candidate and I was denied a CVW last year. I plan to ask my admissions counselor for a CVW in late September or early October.

I would think a visit on your own with her would be far more beneficial than a group meeting. (Just my opinion)

That's what I am thinking too. I have a few questions regarding CVW: Is it appropriate to ask for one? Also, when do they usually happen?

Take your counselor up on her suggestion at your earliest opportunity. It's time to become decisive; you have evidence that NAVY is interested in you - act on it! You will have more freedom BEFORE you are back in class than waiting until some later date.
