My name is James Wert. I'm from Northern Ohio, and as the title says I'm attempting to get into the United States Naval Academy. I am currently a Junior in high school and look forward to going through the application process, and starting the process of getting my Representative's nomination in the Spring. If I make the Academy my goal is to earn one of the Marine option slots.

I'm real big into sports, but I'm not one of those natural born freak-athletes. I've had to work for every bit of athleticism I have. I have an okay 1 1/2 mile time at 11:45, I can do over 100 sit ups in 2 minutes. I play football at Outside Linebacker, and I run the 100m and 200m sprints in track along with my best event the long jump.

Please ask any questions you can think of.

Welcome to the forums. I am also from Ohio and have a son waiting to hear news regarding an appointment. Waiting with baited breath!! The application process is long and requires a lot of time. I suggest you get organized and keep a file on everything. We just heard this week that DS got nomination from MOC. If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me.
Good Luck!

Thank you! I actually have the fortune to have a friend of mine who is going through the process for the USMA, and is currently one of the finalists for one of our MOC's nominations. It's such great help to have someone to learn from their admissions experience. Please tell your son good luck for me!

Hey!! I'm from Ohio too! Tiffin, Ohio that is, and I don't like it here at all!! :) I just got accepted to USMA last week, but I'm crossing my fingers for USAFA! Work on your grades, make sure that they are AWESOME and start working on the CFA now!!! Try to max out on everything, and get all of your applications in as soon as possible.

GOOD LUCK!!!! :)

Hey Guzowski I'm from Norwalk! If you play football chances are we played against each other. Trust me I'm working as hard as possible on preping for the CFA. Lots of long distance running acompanied by some short 1.5 mile jog/sprints. Plus all the sit ups and lifting I do getting ready for football next year.

Grades are good. I've got solid A's and B's, but the B's are only in AP classes, even then only in my toughest AP class: AP Computer(programming).

Hit the books, get good grades, keep doing sports, start thinking about taking the SAT/ACTS. Good Luck.
