USNA Mid charged in incident

There may be a very good reason why they may have broken in and entered a dwelling without specific intent to commit an additional crime. Probably just a big misunderstanding.
..I can't help thinking that a girl(s) might somehow be involved.
Absolutely! These supposed Mids may have just been looking for girls "without specific intent to commit an additional crime". None of us know the actual details and obviously the reasonable explanations and possibilities are almost endless.

. A few years back a couple of USMA cadets were caught dealing coke out of their barracks. As far as I know they are still in the brig..

Yep, and when I've posted stories about crimes committed by West Point Cadets, they were promptly deleted by a (now former) Mod associated with West Point and I was scolded by her in private messages.

.
You don't get arrested for doing the right thing.

LITS, sorry but this is an ignorant statement.

Law enforcement has its share of incompetence and bad actors. Prosecutors all over the country dismiss cases everyday, specifically, because police abuse their authority.

Do NOT take my comment as disparaging to the 94% (my figure) of police who do their job with integrity.

this is closed. It's apparent that far from being a reporting of an actual event, this thread is only going to continue to be a forum for the OP to speculate about all of the untoward things that could be done to mishandle this incident by what he characterizes as a dishonorable if not downright dishonest institution; while at the same time characterizing those who choose to hold their outrage over the mishandling of the incident until after the incident has actually been mishandled as apologists or naive.

So, since this is clearly going nowhere other than continuing to deterioriate -the thread is closed. Sorry folks- I'm displaying my bias and exercising control of the forum. This will not be a forum for generating unwarranted attacks couched as "just reporting the news" on the US Naval Academy and the USNA and Navy Chain of Command and the US Military justice system. If they actually display a mishandling of the situation- (for example if they choose to retain the Mid after being found guilty of an offense )then we can all pile on and express our outrage at the system. Until then- closed.
