USNA Newbie mom- have some questions

O'Callahan's Irish Hotel, about 1 mile from Academy provides shuttle service....
 
What if your military and you don't have a DOD sticker anymore. Some of the bases are doing away with them.?????
 
Except for holidays, there is free shuttle service from the Navy-MC stadium. Parking is $5 per day. We were allowed to leave and re-enter the lot with a paid receipt, but be sure to verify that! The standard shuttle pick-up & drop-off point is just outside USNA Gate 1. On I-day, during PPW, and during Commissioning Week, there are USNA shuttles. Those shuttles run between the stadium and Alumni Hall on campus. The following link shows the routes for the two city-run shuttles:

Note that the map also shows the various city parking garages. The Hillman garage is located just behind Chic & Ruth's deli, only a few blocks from USNA Gate 1, and not too far from Gate 3. Keep in mind that many local residents use this and other local garages (another one is very close to O'Callaghan's), so get there early if you want to park on a work day.

My mom has a military ID and she tried to drive on the yard at the NA in November and she was turned away because she did not have a DoD sticker on the car.

The parking garages are pretty good. 2012mom? gave a good link to check out Annapolis parking. I've found that the surface pay lot that is right near the water in DTA fills up quickly. There is free parking on a lot of the side streets in DTA but most have 2 hour restrictions. You can park along some parts of King George Street (the part that is between the NA and St John's College) for longer then two hours, but you might have a little bit of a walk depending on how many people are also trying to park along there.
 
Parents will receive a FONA pass for access to the yard. Most parents will be in rental cars and wouldn't have a DOD sticker anyway. We took shuttle from Doubletree I day and PPW. It drops you off right at Alumni Hall. Parking is restricted for busy events, but we have had no problems otherwise. We even had great parking for Herndon.
