USNA player’s failed test causes ‘uproar’

^
That very well could be. The difference is Owens' actions came out in court.
Currys' actions - at this point - are all heresay.

Finishing up that last step along the path of becoming the likes of Tennessee, Oregon or USC, Mr. Curry could be suspended for the Maryland, Georgia Southern and Louisiana Tech games, "until he proves he is worthy of wearing a Navy Jersey" to play against Air Force.

A very minor point. I'm as prone to spelling errors as the next guy, but, it's actually "hearsay" and not "heresay."

That still does not make the sentence "drugs tests are not heresay" wrong!

I have a problem with incomplete sentences...

I am a long time reader...but first time poster.
If this kid is on the roster for the upcoming season, I will "NOT" renew my season tickets!!!

Well let's see.
1.Pops positive on a whiz quiz
2. multiple rule violations
3. wonder about his academic standing

I don't think his being commissioned in the USN is ever going to happen, just give him more time. He will do something that gets him booted from the Academy.

I can't believe anyone would try to use the excuse I didn't know what I was smoking. That reason hasn't worked for at least 15 years.:shake:

Just wondering... is this **** still on the roster for the coming football season?

What do you think? That they're gonna kick out a star minority running back who can gain 7.3 yards per carry, just because he used illegal drugs?

There are more important things in Annapolis than honor and integrity and a drug-free brigade - like beating Army at any cost.

Admiral Fowl-up made sure of that.

WOW!!! Reading these posts really brings my son's denial of an appointment into a much brighter, better light for me!! He apparently is of much higher moral standards than what I am hearing of some at the Academy now. (I do realize there are MANY high quality, admirable MIDS there as well~~in fact, some of my friends have kids at the Academy now) The situation described in this thread is the EXACT type of situation my son has spent his life staying away from. HMMM..Thank you all, for now I realize-- "Things Really DO happen for a reason"....I believe my son will move on to bigger things...I certainly do NOT look at the Academy in the same "IVY league" status as I once did.:frown:

Eh, it's a few bad seeds, don't let them spoil your idea of the Navy or Naval Academy as a whole. I have a number of past midshipmen friends (now officers) who are great people, with great dedication and service to our country.

Ditto LITS' comments...no institution is perfect, and the media will never write the thousands of stories about good mids/cadets doing good things, or simply and consistently doing the right thing. The SAs set a higher bar, in general, so when either mids/cadets or Administration fall short, it seems worse.
The Brigade, Regiment or Corps reflect society today, as they always have, and there will always be a few bad ones amongst the good ones, as well as bad decisions amongst the good ones.

I concur. 99% of the Mids are the best of the best, with no character or honor issues whatsoever.

However, those 1% get a lot of attention when special exceptions and exemptions are made, especially when they are not available to the rest of the brigade (i.e. non D1 football players).

Two-tiered? You bet.
