USNA Summer Seminar 2013

Same here. DS received a brief e-mail saying he was selected and that they were moving offices. No information was included on what session he was selected for or where to send the money, etc. I'm hoping the e-mail wasn't a mistake.

Here is the complete e-mail:

"Hello and congratulations on your selection for the U.S. Naval Academy Summer Seminar. Our office is preparing to move to our new location on the Naval Academy campus. Due to this move, our on-line payment website for NASS will be unavailable from February 7 – 12. Your reservation for NASS will not be cancelled if you are not able to pay during this timeframe. Thank you!"

when did you send in you NASS

Just wondering for those who been accepted for NASS, when did you apply. We sent ours in on Jan 26th. Have not heard back yet but were still hoping.

USMA SLCDA Summer Camp

I posted a link to this awhile back, but I thought I would give you guys the link as well. This is a camp facilitiated by the USMC for kids who are interested in becoming Marine Corps Officers. It is held on the base of Quantico, VA. Last year was the first year and the kids had an amazing time. My son was fortunate to enough to attend NASS as well as SLCDA and he had a great time at both. They learned about NROTC scholarships and the USNA had a representative there for a small presentation and to answer questions about applying.

Here is the link....I know the applications are still open. I know NASS does not have enough room for everyone who applies, so this may be an alternative or if you have been accepted to NASS, another great opportunity for you! Btw.....this is a free camp, all you have to pay for is transportation! Good luck!

I applied the day after the application opened and received my acceptance on January 28.

Son applied Jan. 18 and received email acceptance similar to goldenlion's yesterday. Son sent response asking for details and received a return email with Session number (1) and instructions to complete reservation.

DD did not apply until around the 27th and has not heard back yet.

I think because of their office move, the process is being ever so slightly interrupted. I bet as soon as they get their computers plugged in again, they'll be off and running.

ds sent in application on 17th, received his acceptance email on Jan 28th to session 1 (the only one he asked for). links in email did not work to fill out paperwork. link to pay did work after 2-3 days. link in paper copy of acceptance letter (that he received about 5 days later) did work to fill out paperwork. hope that all made sense. I guess my message is, it took about a week to work out the kinks, but now everything is in.

best wishes to everyone! ds also applied to the Marine camp on a few posts above this one. hope to get in that one too!

It is good to know that we can expect a letter in the mail with more information! I also realize that it may be longer than 5 days since they are moving offices. I will be patient.

Our DS just got the email today indicating that she was accepted to session 3. She had applied the day it opened up. Her stats were 207 on PSAT and 27 on PLAN test. She has 3.96 UW GPA and is very involved in varsity sports. We are happy for her. Since her father and I were both Army officers, we're anxious to see how she likes the Navy. She still hopes to get accepted to the AFA and USMA summer programs, as well.

Got my acceptance this morning! I'm from central NJ and I applied the day the application opened and then a few days ago I called the Admissions Office to add my SAT scores to the application.

I applied the day after registration opened but I have still not heard back yet... Already got response from Air Force SS

Our child is in the same position. No news from USNA would be good news...better than hearing that you are NOT in.

Wonder how they found out about NASS?

My DS had never heard of NASS right up to March 2012. A high school teacher (and former USNA grad) talked to him about the Naval Academy. Also DS visited a USNA booth at a college fair and one day a pamphlet about NASS was delivered in the mail. DS applied for NASS in March 2012, attended in the summer and loved it.

Flashforward to Fall 2012......he received LOA and then Appointment for the incoming class. I know majority of candidates have been striving to go to USNA for months if not years, but every once in awhile there is someone whose journey is a bit different. I'm grateful for the opportunity that NASS gave DS to visit and experience a bit of USNA.

For those attending NASS in the summer, you'll have a blast. Just putting this thought out there, DS was very physically fit going into NASS, he had just completed high school varsity swim season and qualified to CIF. Despite being rail thin and in great shape, he still lost 10 lbs in the 6 days at NASS, It sounds like he pushed himself at every possible event - he reported plenty to eat, but he was very physical the entire time. Sounds like every company was different though - so once again, his experience may not be the same for everyone.

no news yet

I heard back from USAFA summer seminar that I was accepted yesterday but have yet to hear back from USNA. Any details on when they will send out more responses?

My DS emailed the contact address that was in the body of the confirmation email that was received when he completed his app. He was checking status. He received this reply:

"Invitations will be sent until everyone who applied is notified of their
status on April 15th"

A couple of posts on the Admissions Facebook page also indicated that some that applied on day 1 need not worry that no reply has been received yet

"students will receive an email either way. They will also receive a letter if they were accepted. However, just because you applied in mid-January and haven't heard anything yet, doesn't mean you won't be selected. We send emails out immediately upon selection or turn down, so if you don't have an email, a decision has not been made yet!"

I received an email from the USAFA saying that I was not accepted into the summer program last friday. But I also applied to the Naval Academy Summer Seminar on the 20th of January and was accepted eight days later. I know that for the Naval Academy it is rolling admissions. Good Luck on the acceptances!!!!

Have any of you accepted already pay online & have emailed the forms? I have done so a few days ago, yet I have not received an email or anything that my spot is confirmed. Should I be worried? I pretty sure I have done everything right.

Hey guys, I just applied yesterday. How long do you reckon it will be until I hear back? I forgot about this (mostly because I've been more invested in West Point) and I'm excited to see if I can do both, too bad I missed the AFA SS deadline though.

Ayp,

I *think* ds had all his forms/payment in about a week after he had heard, so late Jan or early Feb. and his email that confirmed his admission (meaning they had received it all...) was dated Feb 15. hope this helps?
