They need to call the GSA in for an audit.

GAO would be the auditor though.

How long did it take for your claim to be adjudicated?

About a year, from my EZ start or quick start or whatever it was called before I separated to the time I got a letter.

If the VA's website said it would take a year I wouldn't think another thing of it, but the website was claiming 90 day averages.

That is on the longer side for an original claim. Six to nine months would be closer to average. Three months would be really fast, I think (there are, however, some Regional Offices that aren't as burdened and can get them out that quick).

Time for adjudication can be dependent on many things, but usually, if the RO is pretty busy and the claim is more complicated (more issues means more time to develop, etc.), it tends to take more time. Sorry it took so long, but there are ROs out there that are even more backlogged.

Appeals can take upwards of two to three years.

They would do themselves a big favor by managing expectations better. Don't post the BEST wait time.... maybe the average, but remind vets that it can be much longer. No one wants to wait 30 mins on hold to find out "things are just taking longer these days".... if I read that, then I can accept that.

In the end, the guy handling my claim was very very helpful. It just took 9 months to get to him. He gave me his direct number and gave me updates.

Before him though.... the entire process took place in an abyss.
