vacation/break planning

Last year was my daughter's plebe year; we had two plebe friends home with her over Columbus Day Weekend...their very first long one; then we had a few more (3) at Thanksgiving..it was too far to go home for some. I had a blast...all they did was eat, sleep and hang out -just chillin. It was a great experience and my husband and I enjoyed their company. Long weekends I usually expect one or two to join her. We also live in PA, not too far from 30th Street Station.

As a parent it is a great feeling to have the whole KP family, Mids, Alums and parents as a huge extended family. Lets all give thanks to our VERY SPECIAL sons and daughters!!!

To all those KP Parents that live far away, don't worry. I have lots of sleeping space and love to cook and I must admit cater. No one ever goes hungry at my house!!!

The only time the dorms are actually closed is during summer break. All other holidays, the dorms stay open. This is due to sports continuing and the athletes have to have a place to stay. I also know that rooms are availabe for mids waiting for a ship or in transit to another ship during their sea year.

These people are not always housed in the barracks. There are actually rooms above Patten that are used for just these instances. I would not count on the dorms being open, but arrangments can be made for extrenuating circumstances.

Your right...Patton is where the Cadets stay during sea year. I know during fall break, our son stayed in the dorm. Might have been because more athletes are "stuck" there in the fall. :thumb:
