    Hello everyone,

What validation tests are you required to take during Beast? I know that some are voluntary whereas others are mandatory, and I'm just trying to find out which is which. Also, does it hurt me to do poorly on these tests?

    Thank you,

    Try your best.

On the portal there should be something telling you what you are expected to know prior to Beast. That is everything you should know to do fine on the mandatory tests.

    1. Your performance cannot hurt you unless you bomb the math test- they might put you in rock math if you do.

With that being said, I'd recommend taking all of them. Even if you don't want to validate, go take the tests. It's an hour or more in the air conditioning, away from the cadre, sitting in a chair. Can't beat that.

rock math is like pre-calculus. It is used to prep the weakest math students for normal math.

Are there validation tests during beast for the majors that you could want like languages or computer sciences?

does rock math severely harm your ability to perform well at the academy.. because I haven't taken precalc in four years.. or any real math class in two. Of course learning is fun! Just curious how severe it would be if I did not learn enough in time.

No reason to fear validation/placement exams

Let's face it. New Cadets arrive with different abilities and come from different states with significantly different school academic standards. These placement/validation exams are given to ensure that Cadets are placed in the proper level of each course. In some cases, Cadets are given validation credit in which case they will take something else instead. Proper placement is essential to guaranteeing the greatest chance of success for each Cadet. If a Cadet were to start at the wrong level, either he/she would not be challenged or would face new material without the prerequisite understanding. The process works well and New Cadets should not be overly concerned about it.

    Good luck!
