I filled out my vice presidential nomination yesterday but I didn't know what to put in the additional comments box. It says it's optional but I feel like I should write something there.. does anyone know what it's for?

It's for what it says, additional comments. Use it to explain any inconsistencies or defeciencies in your package or just to tell them why you want to attend a service academy and why you feel you can do it. Pretty much anything you think they should know about you that could possibly help them view your application a little more positively.

IrishDancer -- for what it's worth, my ds left that area blank...the vp nom, from what we understood, is a backup used by the academies if someone they want did not receive a congressional nom...so you just need to send it in so the option is there for the academies to use....it's a fairly simple application (or was last year) --

The VEEP is usually the last of the appts to be given out. It has been historically viewed as a nom source to get you in, when the others have been used. This isn't a nom source that the best candidate wins the nom, it is more like, the SA wants you and this is the source they can bring you in from. Everybody who applies for the nom, gets it, but only 1 will get the appt. It is similiar to the Presidential nom, if you qualify, you get it, but only 100 can be assigned an apptmt from that source.

DS didn't add anything and he still got the nom. The nom letter from them says congrats, you got the nom, any questions contact the SA.
