70 total, or 70 just for West Point?

I believe 70 is for USNA. USNA has more applicants from Virginia. I think there are less applicants to USAFA and WP from Virginia; therefore, less interviews. Not certain though.

I completed my Interview for USNA this weekend. There was three separate interviews 15 minutes each. All three of my interviewers were academy graduates. Two other candidates were their at the same time as me. According to Warners Academy Coordinator there was approximately 75 USNA interviews given. She said that there were at least 50 other candidates that were equally qualified that did not get interviews due to errors on their application. These errors were as simple as not Capitalizing the r in Rd. She said that she would be offering approximately 60 interviews for West Point and Air Force. These candidates could have errors on their application and still get interviews. If you want to know more details feel free to PM me.

So he has 3 dates with 5 time slots and 3 interviewers who interview for 15 minutes. I would guess based upon those factors, you're looking at the most 45 candidates, not counting international candidates who call in.

Last year there were about 75 interviews for each SA.

Has anyone heard from Comstock's District 10???

And does anyone know if as a Republican, she coordinates her nominee selection with the two Democratic Senators?

(Please do NOT turn this into a political flame war....)

They are really not partisan for this aspect, it is about getting as many noms in total for the state. None of them want to hear from constituents that their Johnny or Janie did not get a nom because they were being partisan. IE....The Sens only gave noms to Dem. Congressman/woman. Nor does Repubs want to hear from them screaming why none of their constituents got on the slate?

Don't know about Comstock, but Rep. Wittman coordinated with the two Senators for my kid's nomination. He received a letter from Warner congratulating him on his nomination from Wittman and then denying him his own nomination. Virginia is like Pima said, "getting as many noms in total for the state." I wouldn't read too much of the "partisian politics" into these nominations. I think they all are trying to nominate a strong and diverse set of young adults from each state/district.

I had my interview with the Wittman team on Saturday. And I am scheduled for an interview with the Warner team this Saturday. Has any one heard from the Kaine office?

No word from Kaine as of yet. He's probably waiting for Warner and the other MOCs to finalize their respective lists.

My understanding is that Warner is finishing up his interviews this week. At some point, both Va Senators and the other MOCs will finalize their slates after comparing notes and maximizing nominations.

My guess is that we will know in the next couple of weeks. Most likely before Christmas.

Best wishes to all.

Warner holds 3 interview dates and the last one is next monday (12/5). By then I would think that HoRs would have completed their interviews too.

I contacted Comstocks office (VA-10) and the coordinator said that results of nominations will be mailed "before Christmas" - so also in line with @Padre101

I guess for the next few weeks is when MoC finalize their list and stuff. Its going to be a long month for me -.-

Interesting tidbit from Senator Warner's Service Academy coordinator:

-Over 600 candidates applied to receive a nomination from Senator Warner (Don't know the precise breakdown among the service academies, but USNA had the most candidates).
-Warner's committee picked 74 for interviews for a WP nomination.
-Kaine and Warner definitely do coordinate and will not double nominate.
-The Senators try to coordinate with other MOCs to maximize nominations but not all of them cooperate.
-Warner will have his WP nomination decisions out by late January 2017 but could be earlier.

Has anyone heard from Rep. Comstock?

A friend said her niece just got a USNA appointment, and she lives in District 10. He believes that she had no other nomination source other than her VA senators and rep.

I haven't heard from Comstock yet, however I heard that someone called Senator Kaine's office, and that they should start releasing decisions today. But I haven't heard from him yet. Warner's coordinator told me that they had 62 interviews for USAFA, and will be able to select 20 this year. So there's a ~33% at the moment.

Thanks for the info. Appreciate the update.

Just one question: I thought only 10 candidates can be on a slate. How can Warner select 20?

That was my question when she told me that they could select 20. Apparently, the academy is allowing them to nominate more so that more VA students are able to receive a nom. I believe she said that Warner and Kaine will each have 20, so that increases the number available overall.
