Hi, I'm a prospective candidate for 2015 and it is my dream to get into either West Point or AFA.

However, I am VERY nearsighted and my distant acuity is terrible uncorrected. But, my vision is correctable to 20/20 with contacts. If I get DQed initially, would I have a good shot at getting a waiver?

I am horribly nearsighted, my glasses script is either -7.00 or -7.25, and I was DODMERB qualified for USMA. Everything is a case by case basis, and Im pretty sure the requirements are different for each academy, and if there are any other eye issues those could cause problems. I think you should be O.K. regarding USMA if everything is correctable and you have no other eye issues. However again this is just my best guess and of course, everything is a case by case basis and if you have any specific questions or other issues regarding your eyes it is always best to contact Mr. Larry Mullen

Thanks! And did you end up getting a waiver?
