Hi, i am i a current sophomore looking to apply to West Point and perhaps a few other military schools in the future. However my vision is around the 5.75 mark uncorrected. Corrected, it ranges around .5 . First off, i was wondering if i would even be considered for having such bad vision.
Second, i use a special type of contacts (paragon crt) that you only wear in the night, and take out for the day. During the day, i can see fine (40/20) or so. But if i don't wear them in the night, my vision deteriorates significantly. If my night contacts are not allowed by military schools such as West Point, I suppose i can obtain day contacts, or glasses. Therefore, i was wondering if such night contacts would be allowed? or glasses, or day contacts?
Third, could someone please explain how frequently these eye waivers are given out? and how i would go about obtaining one?
Thanks

Your best bet is to contact Larry Mullen in the DoDMERB section. Hard for any of us to tell you anything definitive.

Stop stressing out. Email Larry Mullen, he is the only one who can give you a definitive answer besides the actual DoDMERB people. I do know waivers are given out for vision issues a lot, but your situation sounds complicated. You obtain a waiver after taking your medical exam, which for you will be in about a year from now.
