Hey fellow members,
I have a question. How likely am I to receive a vision waiver for the USMA with the corneal disease keratoconus? I know it shouldn't factor in in a perfect world, but does the fact that I am being recruited to play ice hockey for Army give me a greater chance of receiving a waiver? Thanks. Besides that my vision is correctable to 20/20 R and 20/30 L as of now. Thanks for replies!

No one can give you those odds -- but this question would be better asked in the DoDMERB forum than here

IDK

Thats a DoDmerb thing and no one really knows how that would work.

Waivers are granted or denied by West Point. DoDMERB really has nothing to do with the probability of a waiver being granted.
Whether or not being a recruited athlete helps - I really don't know. The docs may not even know that you are a RA.
The way it was explained to me by DoDMERB and a RC is that the WP Docs who make the granted/denied determination are not really involved with the candidate's admission's file. Their focus is whether to recommend to the admissions committee that it is worth the risk or not worth the risk to accept the DQ'd candidate.

I just wanted to encourage you and tell you that I hope you get in. Pray about it, and trust God.
