Hi everyone, I am currently a junior in h.s. looking into VMI as my college of choice. I am on a club swim team and the High School Varsity team. I was wondering if anyone knew much about the recruiting style of VMI in the athletics area? When can they contact...etc? I looked at the NCAA website but I didn't really understand the whole recruiting calendar. Also does VMI give swimming scholarships?? any information would be helpful :)

Kate- VMI is a Division 1 school- and I am not really up to speed on NCAA Division 1 Recruiting rules, restrictions and policies. It is I understand a pretty arcane world. However, you won't violate anything by you or your coach contacting the school directly. The AD is a gentleman by the name of Donny White and the point of contact in his office would be Judy Cash at the number below:

Womens Swim Coach is a guy name Bill Nicholson-

PM me if you have any specific questions about VMI or VMI athletics and I can try and get you the right contacts if not the answer myself.

    Kate,

My daughter is also a h.s. junior looking at VMI for both a academics/lifestyle and athletics. My suggestion is to fill out a recruitment questionnaire at the web site or, if there is none for your sport, e-mail the coaches directly. We did both, and my daughter stays in touch with updates (again, they cannot respond to her). As D1 coaches they cannot initiate contact with you before July 1 after your junior year, but you can definitely get on their radar, and they can talk to your parents.

I'm guessing given the obvious recruiting hurdles they face, VMI coaches would love to hear direct interest from prospective bona fide women's athletes.

Kate, check your PMs--I'll be sending you one shortly with contact info for some of the ladies who are currently on the women's swimming & diving team at VMI. Tell them I recommended that you contact them.

    Good luck!

Thanks everyone! That helps a lot. One quick question though, when i went to the recruit questionnaire page, the graduation date of 2011 is not a possible year...? And it wouldnt let me submit the info. without a grad. year. Any ideas??
