VMI MMA/Martial Arts Question

Hello. My name is Patrick Leet and I will be attending VMI in the fall. I am interested in possibly joining the MMA or martial arts club at VMI, but I have no experience in either. I was wondering if anyone here had experience with either of these clubs.

I know that there is a MMA club but as a Rat you will not be allowed to join any clubs until sometime in the 2d semester (post breakout). Once that happens, there will be plenty of your brother Rats who join the club without having had any prior experience. I believe that the coaches are all affiliated with some nearby gyms so they are used to training all levels of experience. Early in your Ratship ( a few weeks after the Old Corps returns) there will be a club sports fair where all of the clubs will present and you will get a chance to think about the club that you want to join after breakout.
 
Thank you for the answer. I just wanted to make sure that i don't get into something that is over my head.
