Wait For It...Wait For It! eesh

Any news on when first round of appointments/rejections are going to be in the mail?

We always mail out conditional/full appointments as soon as they are approved by the Director of Admissions and Superintendent, so every EA, RA, and EA deferral appointment tendered to date has been sent. We are beginning to mail non-acceptance letters this week and everything (including waitlist letters) is scheduled to be out the door by April 9th, so everyone should receive some form of notification letter by April 15th.

So, if I read your post correctly, all appointments have been issued and, if we've gotten nothing so far, we should expect the TWE at our house?

No...I said all appointments "tendered to date" have been mailed, not that all appointments have been tendered or mailed. We will tender/mail another 50-75 appointments by April 9th and then, depending on our acceptance rate, we will issue additional appointments from the waiting list after May 1st.

Thanks, Objee!

Keeping hope alive!!

Keeping our fingers crossed!!

As families...we can only keep our fingers and toes crossed...as for our "future officers in waiting" they'll find out soon enough! Was talking with family the other day & they all asked "have you heard? have you heard?" My response..."If it's meant to be...it'll happen..." I say a prayer every night...not just for our family but for everyone who is waiting...

"May we find SOMETHING/ANYTHING in our mailbox from USCGA!...AMEN..." :thumb:

Is there any way for waitlisted applicants to hear before May as to whether they've been offered an appointment? I ask this because all of the other colleges I've been accepted to require a decision to be made by May 1.

The purpose of a waiting list (at least our waiting list) is to fill unexpected vacancies in the class, so it would be impossible to inform those individuals prior to May 1st. We offer all the appointments that we think we'll need to offer by April 15th, but establish a waiting list in case the acceptance rate is lower than anticipated or if individuals who previously accepted their appointment become medically disqualified or simply change their mind (usually after being picked up from another school's waiting list!) and decline the appointment. Since we also observe the May 1st deadline for our appointees to accept or decline, we won't know until after that date if spots open up in the class.

We recommend all applicants on our waiting list secure a spot at another college by May 1st, but inform that institution that you're on our waiting list. They will also be maintaining a waiting list and should understand that if you're appointed off our waiting list, they will/may need to accept someone from their waiting list to fill your (now empty) spot in their incoming class.

The questions were the hardest part of waiting...or certainly up there on the stress scale. I found myself avoiding a few people because I knew the conversation would head that direction. All good intentioned inquiries, but man did it make waiting that much harder!

I will add your prayer to my prayer list....mail....of any sort for those who wait...but please, Lord, let it be the BFE.

shellz,

Thanks for hanging in here with us and for your good wishes. Hopefully, not too much longer now!

It's April 1st! Wouldn't it be a "HOOT!" to have a BFE and call our cadet to let him know it's here? He'd think we were playing around......:shake:

FINALLY! April is here . All notices, good or bad, will be in the mail this week and next. Hang in there just a little longer gang. Everything will work out the way it's supposed too. Keep the Faith!

OMG

I received a call last night and was told my son was being disciplined for a major violation... My heart fell to my stomach, and then I took a breath and calmly began asking what were the next steps for him... Then a crowd of cadets busted out loud laughing! April Fools! They all yelled out aloud. OMG -I totally fell for it!

LOL.....sorry to hear that you were "had". I think I'd faint dead away before the whole "April Fools" part.

My kid has been quiet for awhile, but if he chooses today to call home, I will make sure to be on guard! Thanks for the warning.

hockeymom32, I'm sorry you've received the TWE. I am a nervous wreck each time I go to the mailbox now, knowing they are coming out! Today, there were at least 10, yes 10, thin white envelopes in our box and I almost had a heart attack as I went through them.

If you can say, what part of the country are you from? East coast, mid, west? I guess I'm just trying to time when the TWE might arrive in our box also.

Good luck to your candidate. Just be sure that they know there are going to be many qualified kids who don't get a spot at alot of the academies this year! I try to tell this to my son, without harping on it...if he doesn't get in, he can't take it personally. There are just too few spots for too many great kids!
