Hoping that we all hear good news, soon! How many of us are here on the forum? Anyone that has gotten an appointment off of the wait list? I was EA and accepted to the wait list 12/22/15.

DD is a RA waitlister. Based on my obsessive crosschecking, I think there are 11 EA and RA waitlisters on the forum, unless some waitlisters have
    declined their spots.

Based on what proudofmyboy posted last weekend, it seems that many appointees who were visiting the CGA last weekend are still on the fence. Of course, even if they decline, the waitlisters will still have to match certain characteristics of those who decline before they are selected from the unranked pool.

17 days until May 1, which falls on a Sunday. I expect we'll see a wave of waitlisters appointed shortly after that. I could be wrong, but it seems the CGA announces in waves rather than one at a time.

Wishing our waitlisted forum friends the best!!

My DS was EA waitlisted on 12/23/2015 and received his full appointment on 03/30/2016 and has already mailed back his acceptance to the Class of 2020. My fingers are crossed for all those still waiting. On previous threads I've said this, but it bears repeating. If your DS or DD doesn't receive an appointment off the waitlist to the Class of 2020 and CGA still remains their number 1 choice, I highly recommend supporting them to attend their civilian college choice and to mirror the 4th class academic requirements (this can be found on the CGA website) while getting the best grades possible and reapplying to CGA next year. No one should look at this decision as a year wasted, it should be looked at as a year invested in their future dreams.

Having this waitlist thread will at least allow us to celebrate our CGA forum "family" members who make it off the waitlist for 2020.
Fingers crossed that it is all but understood that it is only as the opportunties open up.
2020 class still has 75 full days till R day, that is 75 days of opportunity to come off the waitlist :)!

Absolutely! Even though her Plan B is solid, we are going to remain hopeful each and every one of those 75 days!

Semper Paratus - we are acting like she's been appointed so if she gets that call even the day before, she will be READY! Gathering papers, updating shot records, etc. 17 days, 75 days...or even another year. Her commitment is unfailing.

I've heard that you need your birth certificate, SS card, current shot record, passport good for the entire time you're at the CGA, background checks (which I would assume the CGA would provide paperwork to take to the sheriff's department where they do livescan, so we'll wait on that one), record of foreign travel, list of addresses for the last 10 years, and a list of references with phone numbers.

All required paperwork is explained in the cadet handbook. The immunization record is a CG form that is provided (with many other forms) in the acceptance packet that you take to your medical professional. The Questionnaire for Investigation Processing (background check) is online. There is a fingerprinting requirement that for us proved challenging living in a large metropolitan area. The fingerprinting cards were ink type (class of 2018) and the police departments in this area all utilize digital fingerprinting. We have a CGIS office nearby and they were able to accommodate the fingerprinting.

Once you accept your offer of appointment, you will be directed to a page on the USCGA website which will have all the info/checklists/forms/etc. which you will need to take action on prior to R-day.

The page from the class of 2019 is still live at: http://www.uscga.edu/2019/

For those that are taking a "lean forward" posture and want to prepare as if you will get the offer, you can use the referenced site to sift through the type of info you will need to collect. There will also be a requirement to get fingerprinted by your local law-enforcement office - as mentioned above (the fingerprint cards will come from the Academy security office), as well as the separate link for eQuip to process the security clearance (there is a worksheet in the link which outlines all the data you will need to complete the eQuip). The other issue that took our DS some additional time was the Immunization form. Even though he was a military dependent and had a current shot record, all the info must be transcribed onto the CGA form and signed by an authorized medical professional...so that can take a bit to get accomplished. Most of the paperwork (other than the passport) can be done sitting around the kitchen table.

The Academy are excellent at making sure you have all the info you need to prepare for R-day -- so there is no need to worry about it at this point. Good luck to all the outstanding and deserving young men and women on the waitlist!

Thanks rjb, TennisDad, and Cidgrad for the useful info and links. Anything we gather now will still be applicable next year, and it's nice to have something to keep us busy and positive while we wait.

DD sent off for her passport today - you don't have to send off a birth certificate for a renewal, but you must send off your old passport.

Yes, it was SUPER helpful to get the immunization form. DD had two shots today, will get three more next month. Surprises included needing a polio shot at age 18 and a meningococcal shot at age 16 or after (she'd had hers at 12). We also can't document her second chicken pox - due to a move, I believe. I am SO grateful to get this taken care of now - I remember my dad telling horror stories about the number of shots drafts received. I don't know if that still happens, but just in case, I didn't want her to start Swab Summer feeling sore and sickly.
