Wait Wait Wait...and MORE Wait

Terms 'mass mailings" and "envelope stuffing event" concern me. Especially since many more TWE's than BFE's go out late March and early April.

Just a thought and sorry if too negative.
I think it will be similiar to what just happened with USAFA, 400 BFE's and 1300 TWE's went out the door last week, just my guess tho.
USNA does seem to be a week or 2 behind previous years schedules

Im sure this has been answered before a million times but really quick, how does a bfe arive and how does a twe arrive?

Both in your mailbox...but a BFE is a fat manila envelope and a TWE is a...well, a thin white envelove. Hope you get the former!!! And, it is Thursday...just sayin'!

Well, yes, maybe negative, but maybe realistic. I am a "glass half full" person...so whichever way it turns out it will be for the best for all concerned. Really, those rejected will decide on plan B and then reapply or not, either way they are awesome candidates and an asset wherever they go.
On an interesting note, we are MD and members of the parents club, typically about 100 kids from MD make it into USNA each year (some years more, some years less...so this is anecdotal) and the fact is that a large number of MD candidates have not heard yet at all, either way...so as far as MD and maybe others I have seen on here whose MOCs told them USNA has not shaken out appointments yet this late....hope reigns until the arrival of the dreaded BFE. So, again! Smile everyone, keep stalking the mailman...but candidates: enjoy your senior year, enjoy your college year! Parents: enjoy the amazing stuff your kids are doing as they finish high school and prepare for graduation, lots of fun stuff and awesome accomplishments are coming to recognition in the
next few weeks! As I get ready for my DD to perform in a lead role at her
school play, I am ready to shed some tears on opening night, closing night and every performance in between! As she gets ready for prom, awards
ceremonies, graduation...I wish I could slow down time (and want it to speed
up to april 15 all at the same time, argh!!!). I know we all want those
envelopes to get here...for closure on the USNA admissions chapter, whether
BFE or TWE, we want it to end...I feel it too. However, if they need more time to more carefully consider our kids for admissions and taking that time gives
them a shot at BFE, I say, take your time USNA admissions!!:thumb: Hang in
there everyone!!

Thank you for reminding one and all to remain positive and hopeful!! This process is so emotionally draining for all involved, our young adults, the parents, family and friends, that there is no room for pessimism. After watching the way USAFA has done this last BFE/TWE rush, I remain optimistic that USNA will also do the same. Good luck to everyone still waiting, I wish you all the best.

Nothing received in Northern VA today - Seems like if something had been mailed from MD on Tues, it would have made it here by Thursday, or tomorrow at the latest.

Please let us know if anyone receives anything in the next few days, good or bad, and I will do the same. Good luck to all!

I don't want to discourage anyone but, in the past, there has not been a "rush" of BFEs at the end for USNA.

It's been my experience that USNA sends out BFEs throughout the admissions cycle, with most going out from late January through late March. The TWEs start going out in earnest in mid-to-late March.

At this point, there are probably still some slots open and a number of candidates who are "on the bubble." What that means is that you are very, very close to an appointment. Some will get them, more probably won't. When I've said 50/50, I do NOT mean that half of those waiting will get a BFE. I mean that you're so close that the decision could go either way.

I think you just burst my "bubble"

The rumor somewhere on this Forum is that wait list letters have already been received by some. Is this true? Why would USNA mail wait list letters already, if they are still waiting on decisions from applicants who have not yet accepted their appointments? Is it better to have already received a wait list letter or to still be waiting? Has anyone who is triple qualified with nominations already received a TWE, or have they just mailed TWEs to kids who didn't get a nom or didn't qualify in some way?

Thanks for any info you have!

(On a personal note, I begrudge kids with significantly lower qualifications getting offers to NAPS when others get rejected outright. The only ones I can support are the prior enlisted who have served. Taxpayers should be questioning this, when there are so many more qualified applicants seeking these appointments.)

Going into overtime

That is what this waiting feels like to me.......I have not heard a yes or a no or a wait, so I am now in my third OT, and I just have to keep on playing the game. Yet, just like any team that is happy to get a chance to win in OT, I am the same. I am just honored to have made it this far with so many great candidates along for the same ride into OT.

Someone suggested to read through all of the posts from this time last year and I did that. I feel sure that the selection process gets harder and harder at this point, but I am just glad to still be on the waiting team.

Maybe something tomorrow?

LTLONGAGO,
I think that the ones getting offers to NAPS do not have significantly lower qualifications overall, they are very highly qualified when it comes to the whole person concept, and there is something in thier record that shows they will become a great leader, yet one thing may be lacking in the academics area, either one low score, or a lower GPA. These things can be remedied by the Prep school. A candidate with high academic qualifications, but no leadership potential will not be helped by attending a prep school.
DH was a USAFA preppy. His Verbal SAT/ACT's were low. But he graduated #2 in his prepschool class, top 10% of our USAFA class, #1 in his UPT class and has had a successful career as an Air Force officer/leader.

Still not sure why taxpayers should pay for an extra year at NAPS when most of us are able to do just four years of college and be successful officers. (My husband did a full career, while I chose to leave earlier and go on to business.) My Ivy League alma mater didn't pay for applicants to do an extra year to get ready for NROTC; why should we as taxpayers spend that money for NAPS, when there are so many kids equally or better qualified in the USNA candidate pool?

I promise not to dwell on this again in this Forum - It is not the place.

It is true that USNA has sent out at least some WL letters; one of my candidates has received one.

Regarding the bubble and your chances at this point, it seems to depend on which bubble you are in. Some bubbles offer better chances than others.

Regarding NAPS, I would hesitate to say that all those still waiting for a direct appointment or an offer to NAPS have no leadership potential. As with which bubble one may be in, there are other considerations than academics and leadership potential as to who gets the NAPS offers.

As the previous poster has said, these facts can be disturbing but have to be accepted considering where we now are as a society.

Good luck to those still waiting.

Bubbles and more bubbles?

:shake::shake:
Now I like that statement but I don't know which bubble I am riding!

Could you explain more about the different bubbles? I can handle the good or bad bubbles! :yay:

Bring on some bubble explanations!

Thanks in advance!

bcr: I appreciate your input. How would you describe what the "bubbles" are for kids who are still waiting?

This makes no sense to me. Does it mean that all other decisions have been made, just not mailed out?
