I am triple-qualified with a nomination. I was told by my MALO that I would receive an LOA after I took and passed my CFA, which I did in mid-Dec. I never received the LOA and just received my nomination on Jan. 13. What do you think my chances are. I realize that my question is very similar to several questions already posted here except for the fact that I was told that I would receive the LOA and it hasnt come. Thanks for your time and any information you can provide. USMA is my one and only goal and waiting is really hard...as I am sure many of you here know.

I agree your question is quite different than the others. Your MALO should not have told you that you were receiving an LOA in the first place (all my training info says "Do NOT spill the beans" - literally! :shake: ). However, the only reason he WOULD have told you would be if it appeared on the MALO candidate website - it shows whether or not one has been offered, and the date.

If you're absolutely sure he told you that you "would" get one - not that you probably would or should or that he thought you would, I'd certainly call/email him first and ask. Remind him of what he told you and see what he says. If he denies saying that, then depending on how confident you are about it, you could call your RD and see what he says. I'd probably play it down a little, something like "My MALO told me that he was fairly certain I was getting one and I just haven't heard anything."

Possible it's all a misunderstanding and either the LOA or the appointment is coming soon. My son was first told about his Navy LOA back in late July. However, even though they told him it was coming in the mail "within a few weeks", he didn't actually get it until early Sept. He called/emailed a few times and they assured him he was getting it. I'd think it was possible that since you got a nomination in the meantime that they just held the LOA and are working on just sending out a full-fledged appointment instead. But I'd certainly check with your MALO and then your RD since this sounds like a communication problem. Good luck!

Our son had an interesting thing happen regarding his LOA. He did not receive it and he found that it had been issued through one of our MOCs, who most kindly emailed a copy to him. The MOC's office staffer contacted WP on our son's behalf and a replacement LOA was promptly sent to our son. SNAFUs do happen!

Update

I contacted my MALO and while I am still uncertain of the reason why I have not heard anything from USMA....It has led to another question...

I noticed on this board several times that continuing to update your file with promotions (I am in the CAP), awards and other achievements is recommended but when I asked my MALO said that it wasnt necessary. So which one is it?

Update your file. Cannot understand why a MALO would say that. Update anytime you have something to add...it keeps your name and file right in front of the admissions board.

Another Update....I have a very good MALO and I have figured out the source of confusion. I just received my Offer of Admission!!! I am IN!!
