I'm also 3Q'ed w/2 noms.
I believe a moderator posted awhile ago that 70% of candidates who were 3Qed with a nomination got an appointment... so take a look around folks.
Where in TN?
For what it's worth, things are super tight in OH13 and OH14 both districts have produced one appointment, but there are several highly qualified candidates still waiting for some action. Best wishes to all of you - less than a month to April 15 when Admissions hopes to apprise all remaining active candidates of their status for USNA 2016.
I got the dreaded TWE today. It said that that they were unable to offer me an appointment to the academy or prep school. Then pretty much said that a significant number of their midshipman were not offered an appointment on their first attempt, but were admitted to the academy after one or more years of college. It ended saying about the other paths of becoming a naval officer (rotc, ocs, etc).
As much of a disappointment this was, we should all realize that alot of us were qualified this year and unfortunately with the class size was being cut back, not everyone could be admitted. Being rejected is not a reflection of failure, it is just motivation to try harder the second time. Besides, going to college and doing well will show them that each of us can handle the academic responsibility and it will make us more competitve against high school seniors applying next year. I know I'm going to re-apply next year. Good Luck to everyone else!
Everyone who has made it this far definitely has bragging rights! You have applied to one of the "Ivy League" colleges and were found to be qualified to attend. This particular college's acceptance rate is low, they are very picky. Any one of you that has made it thus far, but gets a TWE, needs to apply to the other school of your dreams, Harvard, Yale, Duke, MIT, wherever. That is really how good you are. A TWE is merely a little bump in the road. Try again next year, apply to a different college, or go the ROTC route. Our country would be privileged to have you serve. But just knowing what you've already gone through with the application process, I know you'll all serve our country well, in uniform or not. Look at all you've accomplished over the past few years. You give me hope for the future! ...Just my personal thoughts.I got the dreaded TWE today. Being rejected is not a reflection of failure, it is just motivation to try harder the second time.
