Does anyone inform you if you've been waitlisted or should you just assume that is the case if you havn't heard anything from them?

You get a letter telling you if you are waitlisted. You should also get a letter if you are not accepted.

In all honesty, it's way too early to start worrying about the waitlist. Candidates who are waitlisted typically don't hear until April 15 -- or very close to that date.

All candidates should be told their status NLT April 15 -- offered an appointment, turned down for an appointment, waitlisted. There is more discussion of the waitlist on one of my stickies above.

I don't think they make a waitlist until after the mass-mailing in March. That doesn't mean that they don't have a ranked "list" of all applicants, but they don't have a "waitlist" until after they've made all the offers of admission to people they want.
