I am hoping that someone has had some experience with this subject just so that we might get an idea of what to expect with regard to an NROTC Marine Option scholarship.

My son was DQ'd by DODMERB in mid-May-history of shoulder dislocation, surgically repaired. We received notice back from Pensacola yesterday that "A waiver recommendation cannot be determined at this time due to the need for more information." It goes on to list all of the information they want submitted but no earlier than "February 2013". That is all fine, we can absolutely meet these requests. However, my concern is what does this mean for his scholarship when he is scheduled to start school September 14? Does he lose his scholarship? Or does he move forward with it? I do have calls in to the MOI, Pensacola, and DODMERB. I was just hoping that someone who has had personal experience with this situation may be able to give some input.

Updating my own thread now after having spoken with my sons contact in Pensacola, and with his MOI, it looks like his scholarship will still be intact, following a successful waiver process in February 2013. Thankfully with the ROTC programs they do not lose their scholarships just because the process is not completed in time. They will back pay the tuition, but they will not back pay the stipend. Just thought I would share the update for those looking for this information in the future.

Glad you had success in finding the answer through Pensacola. FWIW, beware since the scholarship will not be paid in the fall the college may "lock" his account for spring registration if you do not pay the fall semester. I would call the bursar's office to determine how they will address this issue. I.E. will you have to pay fall tuition?

Great point Pima. I think he will make it through with academic merit award and summer earnings. That's my hope anyway, but I will double check with the bursars office to be sure.
